Convert an Image to Black and White

How to use it

  1. Choose one JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
  2. Set the threshold from 0 to 255; higher values make more pixels black.
  3. Download the two-tone PNG and check fine details.

What to know

Opaque colour pixels become only black or white; this is different from grayscale. Existing transparent pixels keep their alpha. Fine detail may disappear at an unsuitable threshold. Maximum 20 MB, 8 megapixels, and 8192 pixels per side.

Frequently asked questions

Why did small details disappear?

Try another threshold. Pixels on one side of the cutoff become the same black or white tone.

Does this keep transparent areas?

Yes, when the source transparency can be decoded.
